Canberra Olympic, was facing on Sunday ANU WFC, and earn three points at the end of a much tighter encounter. The goalless first half was a credit to the solid ANU defence, bending under the relentless attacks of their visitors without breaking.
Apart from a goal denied to Olivia Gurney for offside, Claire Joseph and her defence always found a way to put a foot, a hand, a body on the line to keep the net untouched.
Olympic came back from the break with the same intent and were reward early, when Gurney, onside this time, was found in the box, dribbled around Joseph to finish in the empty net.
The forward struck again three minutes after the hour mark from the edge of the box with a swerved effort from the edge of the box, offering her team three precious points to remain in reach of the leading Blue Devils.

Dominating performance from the carrots. Excellent team play to set each other up for the goals and inspiring to see the players make efforts on the defensive end throughout the game. SL2 Carrots looking to continue this good form and end their season on a high next weekend.

Belnorth had our number, which was really annoying. They marked key players out, and pulled defence right up to halfway to compress us.
At half time the game plan changed and we resolved to move the ball out to the wings and this resulted in them having just a handful of useful plays in our half, all second half long.
Lara had a cracker that hit the cross bar, Carrie did some beautoverlap runs and shot a beautiful left foot goal from distance, and Sarah put away a Mary Fowler quality pen.
