Women's football didn't just magically become what it is today.
Every packed stadium, Matildas watch party, sold-out World Cup match and Sunday league game exists because generations of women fought for a place in the sport we love. The opportunities available to players, coaches, referees and administrators today were built by people who challenged barriers, created pathways and refused to accept that football wasn't for women.
ANU Women's Football Club is bringing together some of the pioneers who helped shape women's football in Canberra for a special Women in Football Panel at Ainslie Football Club.
This is a rare opportunity to hear firsthand stories from the women who built the foundations of the game locally, reflect on how far we've come over the past 50 years, and explore what's next as women's football continues its rapid growth.
